Ball Park Newsletter #31

April 26 - 30

Principal's Message

Dear Jackie Robinson K-8 Community,

Hope everyone had a restful weekend!

This past week we welcomed our middle school in-person hybrid students back on campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays and it felt so good to finally have each part of our campus with students

1. School Offices Re-Open- Our district has announced that all school offices are open to visitors once again as of tomorrow, April 26th. Visitors are reminded to follow our health and safety protocols: wear a mask, respond to the health screening questions, stop for a temperature check, and keep a 6 foot distance. Welcome back everyone!

2. Middle School Cohort A/Cohort B changes: For families choosing to change from In-Person (Cohort A) to on-line instruction (Cohort B) that change can be done right away. Families wanting to change from on-line instruction (Cohort B) to In-Person (Cohort A) will be contingent upon the following:

    • room in all sections/classes in a student's schedule.

3. Kindergarten Enrollment: Robinson is actively seeking in-coming kindergarten students for the 2021-2022 school year. Please help to get the word out and encourage others to consider Robinson as their school.

4. Summer School at Robinson- Robinson has been approved to have selected grade levels participate in this summer's free district SEAL Program at the Butler site (Supports, Enrichment, and Accelerated Learning).

The dates will be June 28 - July 23, 5 days a week, 8:30-12:00 noon. Look and complete form below.

5. Free Grab-and-Go Meals- Free grab-and-go meals (breakfast, lunch, snack, and supper) are NOT available at this time. Further information to come.

In-person elementary students will be provided with a lunch bag before leaving their classroom.

When in-person middle school students return on April 20, they will be offered a free lunch from the cafeteria windows during their lunch period and will be provided a meal bag before leaving their classroom.

6. Early Out Thursdays/Elementary- The new early out dismissal times on Thursdays for elementary are: 10:00 am for in-person students and 1:30 pm for online-at-home students. Please mark your calendars, as there is no after-school supervision.

7. IMPORTANT: EMERGENCY CONTACT UPDATES- All families are reminded to update your emergency contact information in ParentVue, especially with students who are returning on campus.

8. Our SBAC (State Testing) window will open in one week. Please join us for an SBAC community meting this upcoming Thursday, April 29 @ 6:00pm. Please take a look at the flyer below. We want to encourage our families to send students to take the tests in person. More details will be shared with families during our meeting and by your child's classroom teacher.

Thank you for your time and patience in adapting to all of the re-opening procedures.

Simply put by 8th grade teacher Ms. Miller:

“Ashely Rodriguez has made an incredible impact on the students and staff at JROB. She puts her heart and soul into every aspect of her education. Whether she is on the court playing sports or in the classroom, she works diligently to achieve her goals and ensures that her success is of the utmost importance. Ashely takes on challenges with an "I can do this" attitude" and takes the time to ask questions and engage in conversation with her teachers and peers. She is reflective when she struggles and focuses on turning challenges into victories. She inspires others to be the best that they can be and celebrates with them in their successes. Her zest for life is an inspiration and we look forward to seeing the impact she will have on our world..”

Hello Dolphin Parents!

It’s Ms. Denise and I want to let you know that I’m back! Back for FUN and ADVENTURES from the WRAP program to help make Virtual Programming for our JROB students something for them to look forward to!

I’ve compiled a list of activities that I’m sure will have them asking for more! For example, courtesy of the California Science Museum, I will be playing the role of “The Gross Scientist! The kids will be learning things like Sticky Snot, Let It Rip (Why do farts make sounds?), Spill Your Guts (Why vomiting is important!), and Germ Busters. For these and other hands-on activities, WE will provide the kids with the supplies needed for the activity.

We will recognize some Fun Facts of the day (Chinese New Year, Random Act of Kindness Day, Make a Friend Day, and more!) For Friday’s Fun Day, we’ll do some singing and dancing to end the week on a good note!

There will also be Yoga and Stretching classes, along with instructions on how to make a healthy snack, and The Boys & Girls Club will be providing the necessary supplies/ingredients!

This program is open to all JROB students from 2:30-4:30 and is sure to fill up fast, so be sure to fill out the application by going to this link:
