Take Our Kids to Work Day
Take Our Kids to Work Day is an annual career exploration event, held on November 2 of this year, where Grade 9 students across Canada are asked to share a day in the life of a working professional.
Our Grade 9’s students will spend the day at the workplace of a parent, relative, friend or volunteer host, witnessing first-hand the world of work, prompting early career planning, and enabling students to make informed decisions about their future goals and endeavours.
This event also gives parents the opportunity to discuss career prospects with their children and allows the working professionals the opportunity to share knowledge, experience and advice around education, career choices and relevant skills required in today’s workplace.
Grade 9 parents/guardians, please take this opportunity to talk to your children about their potential career thoughts and see if there is a place that would be of the most interest for them to attend. There will be more information shared as we get closer to this date.

School Fundraising- Great Christmas gifts!
Our school has signed up to participate in Purdys Chocolates Christmas campaign! This year, we are hoping to put the proceeds towards overall school aesthetics and culture-building activities. You can order anytime between now and November 26th - all orders will be ready for pickup by December 12th. This is a great way to get some shopping done and support the school as well (we will receive 25% of sales). You can create an account and check out the catalogue here: https://fundraising.purdys.com/780246-96025.
PAY SCHOOL FEES ONLINE!
School fee information for the 2022-23 school year was posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal at the end of September. All fees are due within 30 days of being posted. To access your fee information, simply log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and go to “Student Fees.” There you can view your fees and pay online using a credit card.
Don’t forget to log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal regularly throughout the year. Fees are often added to your child’s account to cover the cost of certain school activities such as field trips, class projects, athletic-team fees and more. Additionally, junior high fees can change as option courses are added and deleted.
If you’re unable to pay your school fees, you can apply to have certain fees waived by submitting an Application for a Waiver of Fees. The application deadline is Dec. 15, 2022.
For more information about school fees, waivers and payment deadlines visit eips.ca. Alternatively, contact Mrs. Bidniak our Business Manager.
Book of the Week - Clown in a Cornfield
Are you a fan of It? Looking for something to keep you awake at night? Check out Clown in a Cornfield, by Adam Cesare. Quinn Maybrook just wants to make it until graduation – but she might not make it to morning. After a seemingly harmless prank during the town’s annual parade goes awry, Quinn is invited to a huge party on the outskirts of town in the middle of a secluded cornfield. Totally cut off from the rest of the town, the party quickly goes sideways once a clown starts taking them out, one by one.

Cyber Security Awareness Month
Cyber Security Awareness Month
October is Cyber Security Awareness Month in Canada, which is an important time to reflect, as individuals and as an organization, on how we can protect ourselves and our students online. This year’s theme is Fight Phishing: Ruin a Cyber Criminal’s Day.
Phishing is a cyber criminal’s attempt to get sensitive information by pretending to be a legitimate sender like a bank or a government organization. If you have an email address or a phone number, use social media, or browse the internet, chances are you’ve received a phishing message. In fact, phishing is one of the biggest cyber threats Canadians are facing. Learn more
Cyber security is a shared responsibility. To help educate students on phishing and cyber security, check out the resources below:
