Do you remember who your favorite teacher was?
If you answered YES to the question above, then you know how powerful the impact of a teacher is.
Our teachers do so much for our students each and every day. They spend hours of their own time lesson planning, assessing, and thinking of new and creative ways to engage our students. They are so much more than deliverers of instruction...they are coaches, listeners, psychologists, nurses, and role models. We are very lucky to have experienced, skilled, and passionate teachers at Glen Lake Elementary.
PTO Budget Meeting - Monday, May 13 at 6:00 pm
Please join the Glen Lake Elementary PTO next Monday for our last meeting of the year. During the meeting we will discuss the 1st Day School Supply program, hear about the awesome events we had in 2018-2019 and review what was purchased this school year. We will also vote on the 2019-2020 PTO budget and vote in the new PTO Board Members.
We are looking for a new PTO Secretary for the 2019-2020 School Year and Board Members at Large. If anyone is interested in joining the organization, please let me know or make sure to come to the meeting (a Board Member at Large does not hold an officer position, but is welcome to join PTO at all executive board meetings).
Reminder free childcare will be available for ages 4 and older.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday!

Class Placement for 2019/2020
Classroom placement requires careful consideration of many variables and thoughtful planning by each team of teachers, the counselor, and the principal. This process begins in May. If you are moving or you know your child will not attend Glen Lake next year, please contact the office as soon as possible.
Arts Festival 2019 Thursday May 16, 6:00-7:30 pm
Glen Lake Spring Arts Festival is a fun spring family open house where the kids share their artistic talents and expressions with their family and friends! It includes art displayed on the walls and musical acts shared in the gym. Parents and children are invited to walk through the halls to view the art and creativity and swing into the lunchroom for an ice cream treat.
Help us hang the art Monday May 13th before and after the PTO meeting! 4:30-6:00 pm, and 7:00 -8:30 pm. Meet in hallway outside main office.
We also need volunteers to help with decorating on the morning of the event and scooping ice cream at the event. Please sign up at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/904084BA9A92EA64-spring2

Summer School
Biking or Walking to School
Walking or biking to school can be a great way to promote fitness and independence in children. Children, parents, and the school, by working together, can assure this is a safe activity for our children. Parents need to decide if your child is old enough:
• To understand and obey traffic laws.
• To learn and obey pedestrian and bicycle safety rules.
• To ride without getting hurt.
• We recommend that children be in third grade or 9 years of age to independently walk or ride a bike to school.
Please teach your child the traffic laws, bicycle safety rules, and safe routes. Review with your child the safest route and point out any safety concerns or hazards along the intended route. Show them how to use crosswalks to cross the street. Children riding bikes to school must wear helmets. Bikes must be locked to the bike rack located by the front of the school. We cannot be responsible for damaged or missing bikes.
