Greetings Benfield Families!


With the month of September coming to an end, we are seeing amazing happenings around Benfield. Students have learned the routines and are really settling in nicely with their learning. It's such a pleasure to visit classrooms and see the learning and friendship building taking place each day .


Car Loop Reminders

Please be sure to have your child ready to exit the car as soon as you are along the front sidewalk, from the media center to the front door. This really helps to keep the car line moving. Cars should not get out of the line and pass other cars when in the car rider loop.


Bike Riders

Remind your children that when riding their bikes to school, it is important to be safe. Staff from Severna Park Middle School have shared their concern about having students ride through the parking lot rather than staying near the sidewalk. We want to be sure that students stay safe when riding their bikes to and from school.

Benfield Elementary PTO Updates

Our PTO membership drive is rolling! Currently, we are at 71% of our school registered for the PTO! Benfield’s Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is one of our school's greatest assets and helps support school staff to provide our children with the best educational experiences possible! As the new school year begins, we ask for your support, so we can continue to provide resources for our teachers and learning opportunities for our children.


Our goal is to have 100% school-wide participation this year. Each class that has 100% participation by October 3rd will get 10 minutes of extra recess!

The PTO Volunteer Coordinators have received an overwhelming amount of volunteers for each of our many PTO Programs and Committees. Thank you!! We are still looking for a couple volunteers in the following areas:


Ice Cream Social Lead & Volunteers

Currently, have several volunteers, but are looking for 2-3 more people to make this a successful evening for all students!


Raise Craze Coordinators (2)-Help with the planning of our annual kindness challenge for late winter/early spring


Teacher of the Month Appreciate Lead


Yearbook Committee Members

Ideally looking for 2 more people to join the current volunteer group


5th Grade Committee Co-Chair

We have one parent signed up for this role, but are looking for a partner to help support this special year for our 5th graders

**We currently have a co-chair but are looking for 1 more 5th grade parent to partner with this person**
