Nazareth Catholic Community
April 8, 2018 ~ Second Sunday of Easter
TONIGHT: Sunday, April 8, we will welcome Bishop Matthew Clark at our 7:00 PM Mass
Easter Greetings!
Our Lenten journey is complete! We have moved from the ashes of Ash Wednesday, through the darkness of Good Friday into the light, joy and hope of the promise of the Resurrected Christ on Easter. These past 40 days of discernment and reflection have led us to a fuller understanding of the person God hopes each of us to discover ourselves as. A welcome perspective, especially during the stress and uncertainty the end of the academic year can bring.
The promise of Easter is very much needed in our world today. Our world is darkened by war and terror; hardship and sorrow, and the pain and suffering of many. In the midst of all the overwhelming challenges of our own lives, Easter gives us perspective and empowers us to persevere through trying times knowing that God is present with us in our struggles and pain, and desires us to be free from all that holds us back from living as our True Self.
Easter invites us to view our world with a new set of eyes. Eyes that see possibility, opportunity and new beginnings. Thomas Merton said "Let us not then darken the joy of Christ’s victory by remaining in captivity and in darkness, but let us declare His power, by living as free people who have been called by Him out of darkness into his admirable light." May Easter open your eyes to see yourself and our world as God desires!
THIS, Sunday, April 8, we will welcome Bishop Matthew Clark, bishop emeritus of the Diocese of Rochester, to our 7:00 PM Mass when our Easter celebration will continue as we celebrate the sacraments of initiation for seven members of our Catholic community. May they continue to listen for God's voice in their hearts as they discern how they are being called to share their gifts and talents in service to others.
Easter Peace,
~ Jamie
