Yearbook Distribution Information
Due to the continually changing calendar and challenges of this school year, we have elected to delay the distribution of our yearbook until August. We know how much you look forward to receiving this special keepsake at the end of the school year; however, we also recognize the cost and expectation that come along with it. To give each student, organization, and activity their due coverage, the yearbook staff will continue to work hard on page creation through the end of the school year and into the summer a little bit. This will give the yearbook staff the opportunity to cover spring/summer events and sports. A definitive distribution date and plan will be communicated as soon as it is available.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we strive to establish and uphold this amazing tradition. The yearbook staff has been working hard amidst the challenges of this year to continue to build a yearbook that is remembered for years to come. This historic yearbook will be one you don’t want to miss!
Be well,
Anne Sutton, Advisor

THE DIESEL ENGINE
This week’s German Corner topic is inspired by one of my German II student’s obsession with his pickup truck. This one is for you Eric Klim!
The inventor of the diesel engine, Rudolf Diesel, was born in Paris, France on March 18, 1858. Rudolf Diesel was educated at Munich Polytechnic and, after graduation, was employed as a refrigerator engineer. His true love, however, lay in engine design. In 1893, he published a paper describing an engine with combustion within a cylinder, the internal combustion engine. In 1894, he filed for a patent for his new invention, dubbed the diesel engine. His engine was the first that proved that fuel could be ignited without a spark. He operated his first successful engine in 1897. In 1898, Rudolf Diesel was granted patent #608,845 for an “internal combustion engine” the Diesel engine. The diesel engines of today are refined and improved versions of Rudolf Diesel’s original concept. I hope you enjoyed this tidbit of mechanical history. Bis nächste Woche!
