3rd and 4th Grade Music Program
Vienna-Finley Elementary Fifth Grade Wax Museum
The fifth grade students in Mrs. Cazares and Mrs. Clancy’s classes recently put on a wax museum titled “History’s Most Influential People.” In the weeks leading up to the wax museum presentation, students researched and wrote reports over an influential person of their choosing. Then they wrote and memorized a speech and put together costumes for the museum.
On the day of the wax museum, the fifth grade students set up their backdrops, put their buttons in place, and got into their statue-like positions. When visitors entered the museum, they walked past the student ‘statues’ from the 1500s to the present time. If they wanted to learn about one of the influential people, all they had to do was push their button and they would come to life and say their speech. The fifth grade students performed their wax museum twice, once in the morning for the school and again in the afternoon for their families.
When asked what their favorite part of the wax museum project was, Kody Clancy from Mrs. Clancy’s class said, “dressing up in my costume and saying my speech.” Olivia Colbert from Mrs. Cazares’ class replied, “I loved picking out and designing my costume and decorating my poster, but my favorite part was coming to life.” Kody was Albert Einstein and Olivia was Pocahontas in the wax museum. After seeing how well the project went and how much everyone enjoyed it, Mrs. Cazares and Mrs. Clancy are planning on making this an annual end of the year project for their fifth grade students at Vienna-Finley Elementary.
