Art Club Highlights
Seventh and 8th grade Art Club is participating in the “Traveling Mural Project,” which allows Murray Avenue School to join the growing list of schools who have committed to create a collaborative and unique mural. This project was started by an art teacher from Van Meter Community School in Iowa who had a dream to connect with other school communities around the world to create murals of peace, friendship, diversity and love. Based on the book, Maybe Something Beautiful, which describes how color can transform a community, the project asks students to reveal how art can inspire their school. Students are in the process of creating a ten-foot mural, which will be divided into ten equal sections. Nine of the sections will be mailed to other schools who are enrolled in the project, and we will receive nine new sections from those schools. All pieces will then be connected to complete our re-imagined and diverse, ten-foot mural. Look for this mural display in the halls of Murray Avenue prior to winter break!
