Eagles' News Brief:
11.15.2020- Eagles' News Brief
Good Afternoon Eagle Families!
I hope you all are safe and well! Tomorrow is a big day for many of our Eagles as we are preparing to welcome more than 220 students back to campus in the morning! Only Cohort 1, 2, & 3 students in grades prek - 3 and Cohort 1 4th & 5th graders should report to school. This will be the most students we’ve had on campus at once since March 13th. In-person class sizes will range from 10 - 16 students with most classes having 15-16 students. We are very excited to have our students back, and we want to make sure we do everything we can to keep everyone safe while they are at school! I also want to thank the parents and caregivers of our other 323 students for their support during this time!
A few important reminders:
Please keep your child home if ANYONE in your household is sick. Please DO NOT send students to school if they are sick, or if ANYONE in your household is sick or has recently had close contact with someone who is sick. If one child from your household leaves school early, due to illness, all children from your household will be required to leave school and remain out until they meet the requirements for returning. Review the requirements for returning to school after diagnosis, exposure, or illness.
Everyone MUST wear a mask, always. Parents: I encourage you to send your child to school with an extra mask or two in case a change is needed. Masks are required unless students are eating, drinking, or engaging in a uniform mask break under the direction of a teacher.
Please send your student with a labeled water bottle and their individual supplies. Students will not be able to drink from our water fountains and they will not be able to share school supplies. Please be sure to pack your child’s charged Chromebook and any other supplies / instructional materials your teacher requested.
- Please be patient during arrival and dismissal. Arrival and dismissal will take longer this year. During arrival, all students will have to undergo a health screening BEFORE they exit the vehicle. Walkers should be escorted to the screening area by a parent. In the afternoons, students will be traveling from classrooms rather than waiting in the gym. We will load buses first, and then load carpool students. Dismissal will begin shortly after 3 pm.
- Please remind your student to follow directions from our staff. Many of our processes and procedures for everyday activities including lunch, recess, specials, walking in the hallway, and even visiting the restroom have changed. It is important that we all remain respectful and follow the new procedures. They are in place to keep everyone safe.
Wednesday, November 18, is a Remote Learning Day for ALL students. Classes will not meet in person, but teachers may ask students to log on, as needed! On Remote Learning Days, students are REQUIRED to complete their assignments in Google Classroom! Attendance is taken based on assignment completion.
Finally, I want to remind everyone that the window for Virtual Academy registration opens on December 2. Families that wish to transfer to Virtual Academy or remain virtual longer than initially expected, should review this information: https://www.wcpss.net/Page/46086
Our instructional calendars have been updated. Please familiarize yourself with the calendar for your child's cohort. Students will generally have live or in-person classes four days per week. There is typically a Remote Learning Day, Teacher Work Day, or Holiday scheduled one day per week. October 28 has been added as a Remote Learning Day for all students.
