Servings & Nutrition for Children
We provide meals and snacks that include a variety of food groups including meat and meat alternates, bread and grains, fruits, vegetables and fluid milk .
Our meals and snacks provide nutrition for children including carbohydrates, proteins and fat to give children energy, while maintaining total calories within recommended ranges specific to a child’s age group and level of activity.
You can have confidence that we provide your child with wholesome meals to help them grow strong, healthy and happy.
Safety Precautions
Education and development are important, but we know that nothing matters more than the safety, security and health of your child. That’s why protection and preparedness are critical considerations in everything we do at Little Sprouts child day care centers.
From first aid training for emergency situations to sanitation and ensuring a clean and healthy environment for children, we have more than 40 years of experience ensuring that every child is happy and healthy. And, our 1,700 Little Sprouts child care centers nationwide and vans and buses used for transportation all are designed with the safety and security of children in mind. Although scraped knees are a part of growing up, you can have confidence that your child is cared for in a secure, nurturing environment every day.
Physical Activities
The goal of this project is to improve children’s lifelong eating and physical activity habits by training caregivers on the importance of nutrition and physical activity to help reverse the trend of overweight and obesity among Georgia’s children. The objectives of the project are to:
- Introduce child care providers to the concept of a wellness policy and the benefits of creating and adopting a wellness policy for their child care center;
- Help child care providers develop a relevant wellness policy and a practical plan for implementing the policy in their child care centers;
- Support child care centers through training, technical assistance, and funding through mini-grants to implement their wellness policy;
- Evaluate the impact of a wellness policy on children and staff in a child care environment. Researchers provided program evaluation services to Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning through instrument development, data collection, data entry and analysis and results dissemination.
