Annual School Board Recognition Program

Literacy Focused Celebration of Thanks

Students from the elementary, middle and high schools thanked the School Board for the many literacy-building initiatives that are offered to students at all three levels and for their countless hours of volunteer service. The elementary students focused on various elements that help them develop fundamental reading and writing skills. The middle school reading specialists created an interactive presentation. Students then described 6th, 7th and 8th grade programs in detail. The high school presentation included a video that celebrated the many ways that PHS programs help students develop critical thinking and analytical skills, presentation skills and writing skills aimed at future success. Business Meeting

The Board thanked everyone for the Recognition Program that was presented in honor of their volunteer service. They stated that they loved seeing the students and how they grow academically over the years. They thanked the parents and teachers, support staff and administration for all they do for our students. Carol Facciano is a new Board Member and said that the presentation reiterated why she chose to run for the Board. Many reiterated that seeing the students this evening reminded everyone in the room of the reasons they chose to play a role in public education and why they are proud to be a part of this District.

Board Vice President Lisa Roth closed with noting that she loved that so many students thanked the board for technology but also thanked them for time to read during Sustained Silent Reading. The fact that a child can still get lost in a book is a simple, yet timeless sentiment in today's world that is filled with technology.
