Weekly Happenings at Southeastern Elementary
Principal's Postings
Welcome to the February 18th, 2022, edition of Southeastern Scene.
Dear Southeastern families:
We appreciate our Southeastern students and families for helping us navigate the changing protocols and procedures relating to COVID-19.
We have some new changes taking place next week. We ask for your help reviewing as a family over the weekend the new procedures that will go into effect beginning Tuesday, February 22nd. Below is the most recent communication sent to families by the district outlining these important changes:
In following with the most recent changes by the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH), schools will no longer be required to contact trace. In addition, quarantining is no longer required for unvaccinated students or staff.
This update will go into effect for Hamilton Southeastern Schools next week. As a reminder, all schools will be mask optional beginning on Tuesday, Feb. 22. However, masks are still required to be worn on the school bus per a federal mandate. If your student rides the bus, we encourage you to pack an extra mask in the event one is misplaced.
- Families are encouraged to continue to monitor for COVID-like symptoms and stay home when sick.
- Positive students and staff must isolate for 5 days and may return on Day 6 (regardless of vaccination status) if fever-free for 24-hours without the use of medications and symptoms are resolved or improving.
- Students and staff are encouraged to wear a mask when around others from Day 6 to Day 10.
- If there is a positive case in a household, students and staff may come to school if symptom-free.
School nurses will continue to track positive cases to monitor for potential outbreaks.
We greatly appreciate your continued flexibility. Please access the updated Return to In-Person Instruction Plan for further questions.
Yours in education,
Mrs. Chastain
Counselor's Corner
SEL
There was no SEL lesson the week of February 14th. Teachers spent the time talking about friendship, kindness, compassion and empathy in honor of Valentine's (Friendship) Day.
We had week 19 of our SEL scope and sequence. Please access the lesson in the attached document below.

No School Monday
Arriving to School Late
Students are increasingly coming to school late. This causes a decrease in much-needed instruction time, and a tardy marked in their skyward account. Morning car rider line ends at 7:45 a.m. If you are dropping your student(s) off at school after morning car rider, and there are no adult staff members present outside, you MUST park your car, walk your student into the building, and sign him/her in at the table inside door #1. It is a safety concern to let students out curbside without adult supervision, and we want to be certain that all students are safe while entering/exiting the building. Also, students dropped off late will be marked “tardy" in Skyward. A student is considered tardy when arriving after 7:45.
