Congrats to the percussion for winning GOLD and SILVER medals in their respective categories at the North Texas Percussion Festival.
Congrats to Dr. Godoy on a beautiful recital.
Congrats to the Jazz Catz on a fantastic performance at the Apex Jazz Festival.

Band Audition Materials

Beginning March 20th, we will hear chair placement auditions for next semester (Fall 2023).

The wind audition will consist of the following:

Concert E and F Scale
Chromatic Scale
2 Etudes

The percussion audition will consist of the following:

Scales
Rudiments
Brief Sightreading

This process helps the counselors plan for arena scheduling, set music assignments for the Varsity marching band, and set the three concert bands for the Winter Concert.

We re-audition for the spring semester in November. Remember - we do not “cut” any student. Everyone has a place in the CHHS Band.

Jazz Band Auditions

Interested in joining Jazz Band in addition to your band class? Click on the handout down below for everything you need to know, as well as your audition music!

Jazz Band is an elective of Band and meets 6th or 7th period. Instrumentation for this class is open to students who play Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Percussion, Piano, Guitar, and Bass Guitar.

We have two Jazz Bands at CHHS, and there will be consideration for other traditional band instruments and players of all experience levels - even if you don’t play one of the above instruments and even those who have never played jazz before! Sign up!
