A Note From The Principal

Greetings,

Welcome to November! I hope everyone had a relaxing and fun Fall Break. The Adams staff is recharged and fired up for our 2nd quarter. We have a busy quarter planned and we are looking forward to seeing you in the next upcoming month: 1st and 2nd grade music nights, college week, and 4th grade Native American Day. Our Thank you to all of our amazing parent volunteers who assisted with our Fall Parties on October 31st!

It was a joy to meet all of our parents during our Parent/Teacher conferences in October. Thank you so much for attending and strengthening our school-home connection. Our Red Ribbon Week was a HUGE success as our students and staff focused on being drug free. Thank you to Ms. McCafferty for planning our week of dress ups, lessons, and activities. Lastly, our Father/Daughter Dance was tons of fun. Thank you to the PTS for sponsoring this event. If you ever need assistance, feel free to contact me at 317.862.2411.

Always learning,

Mrs. Schoene

College Week Parent Information

The week of November 7th (next week), we will be introducing students to college during morning announcements. It’s never too early to begin talking about your child’s future. Begin sharing and discussing your hopes and dreams for them right now! And don’t forget to also begin your research on how to fund college and scholarship opportunities now.

Did you know that nearly two-thirds of all new jobs in Indiana will require some form of education beyond high school? Prepare your son or daughter for the future by setting high expectations now. Talk to your child about how important school is and how important it is to do your best work.

The Learn More Indiana website has a lot of great information for you and your child. Below are the links for the Student Success Guide, an on-line magazine for kids focused on college and career readiness.

Thinking about going back to college yourself? “You Can. Go Back.” is a statewide campaign that aims to help the 750,000+ Hoosier adults with some college but no degree finish what they started. To learn more, including information on grant programs, visit YouCanGoBack.org.

Canned Food Drive

Adams Elementary is hosting a food drive November 28th to Dec 2nd. All items will be donated To the Franklin Township Civic League.

Pass It On Coat Drive

This year marks the sixth “Pass It On” coat drive, coordinated by the Franklin Township Civic League. The goal of this project is to ensure that children in need in Franklin Township receive winter coats. Adams Elementary would like to help the Civic League accomplish this goal by accepting donations of “gently used” children’s and adult sized coats. Has your child outgrown his or her coat, but it is still in great shape? Instead of donating it to another charity, why not bring it to Adams Elementary for the coat drive? Coats should be in “like new” or “nearly new” condition, with fastenings that function, and no visible rips, tears or stains. Thanks for your donation!
