Friendly Reminders from HES Office Staff:
Morning drop off times, Tuesday-Friday 7:25-7:55.
Please continue to use one lane for morning drop off for the continued safety of students.
Students are to be dropped off on the sidewalk at the Elementary’s front entrance.
Please do not use cell phones during drop off.
At 7:55 the doors to the front entrance will be shut and locked. Staff are no longer monitoring drop off. The building sign will be placed outside that school is in session.
After 7:55 students being dropped off are counted as late. Parents are responsible for walking their child in to the elementary office doors and signing their student in.
- If you need to make a change to your child's regular routine for the end of the day, please send a note to the office. Calls are for emergencies, the school office is a very busy place, especially at the end of the day. If you have a schedule change for your student and it is last minute- please call Chellsie no later than 2:30.
Jr. Ag at HES
Spring is in the air! The Junior Ag students have completed their soil unit and we have transitioned right into planting. We have over 10 different vegetable plants, hanging baskets and bedding plants that we have planted-a total of over 2000 items! So mark your calendars for Saturday MAY 1st and come join us for our 2nd annual plant and chick day sale!
Students will be starting their projects to round out the year. We are really excited to see all of the chicks hatch, the blooming of the flowers and visiting with our farmers at our 2nd annual "Thank a Farmer" breakfast, also on Saturday MAY 1st.
Finally, I want to thank all of the parents, students, administration and community for their support of the Junior Ag program. I wanted to share some exciting news-I, Mrs. Claybrook, have been given the title of 2021 National Excellence in Teaching about Agriculture Award-at which I will be traveling to Des Moines Iowa this June to receive our national award and superior training to bring back for our ag program. THANK YOU HIGHLANDVILLE/SPOKANE COMMUNITY!
Congratulations Mrs. Claybrook!
Honor Choir at HES
Spring has sprung and music pours forth from our lungs! The Honor Choir students are hard at work in concepts such as breath support, blending, and projecting their voices. We have completed an Easter song, Via Dolorosa, which was recorded at our last rehearsal and will be shared on the HES Music Makers Facebook page ahead of Easter on Good Friday.
The next six weeks of the school year will be dedicated to working on the songs that we will be performing in the Spring Concert (May 12), the Spring Carnival (May 14), and graduation (May 16) -- three performances that are all just days apart!
The Honor Choir will be performing in collaboration with the Middle and High School choirs at the Spring Concert as well as at graduation. In addition, when we perform at the Spring Carnival, one of our songs, True Colors, will feature soloists Aven Stuart and Xavier Buechter. It will be a moment to remember as we honor two of our 5th graders in their last year at Highlandville Elementary School. We hope to see you in the near future as we wrap our year-end performances.
Happy Easter and Happy Spring!
