Notes from Mrs. Carder
Dear Gray Families,
Third quarter is usually a hard time for students to stay focused on working hard and keeping up on their growth in academics and sometimes we see an increase in poor behavior choices. Take time to visit often with your child about the importance of keeping the hard work going to make their learning goals happen and to keep making good choices to avoid getting into trouble.
Students and staff have been working very hard already to make sure all grade level learning standards are taught and mastered. If you notice your child struggling in an area please be sure to reach out to the teacher for ideas to help support.
Your homeroom parent will be in contact with you soon about the Valentine's Day party and Fun Night needs. Please assist and help so we can keep these fun events going strong. Our PTA does a lot of great things for our kids and families so be sure to provide support as needed.
Thank you for all you do to make our school the best! We have such supporting families and well behaved students - it truly is an honor to serve in this community!
Reminders
- Please remember to not cross the moving car line while walking up to pick up your child - if you have a grandparent or friend filling in for you - let them know as well.
- The car line is the safest way to pick up your child - the parking lot is extremely unsafe to walk on.
- Call before 3:00 if you have a message for your child to get home another way - the end of the day is very hectic and it is hard to get messages to the students.
- If the temperature is above 32 degrees we do go out for recess - please dress your child accordingly.
- Keep checking social media, newsletters, emails, etc... for reminders and information on upcoming events.
- If you have a 3rd or 4th grader remind them nightly to charge their device.
- We have a lunchroom table for parents to eat with their own child. This keeps enough space at the regular lunchroom table for the students and respects privacy of all students.
- Our building goal for attendance is to be about 96% and one of the top 3 schools in the district. If we meet our goal we celebrate with beach balls and music at our celebration assembly. Help us out!
