COVID Guidelines
I ask that all parents/carers please continue to follow the guidelines set for schools by the CEWA and the Chief Health Officer of WA. It’s important that we are all doing what we can to keep our community safe and so our students are at school for face to face learning. Current guidelines below:
- Parents will be permitted on school sites for drop-off and pick-up in outdoor locations only; consequently, we ask parents not to enter classrooms or indoor spaces.
- A parent should only attend the school office in the event of a significant pastoral or welfare issue related to their child. Wherever possible interactions by staff with parents should take place over the phone or via email/online.
- If students are late or required to be picked up for an appointment during school hours, please call the office for instructions.
- Gatherings of parents on school sites will not be permitted.
- Parent-teacher interviews will occur online or over the phone.
- Uniform orders will need to be done via email. Order forms are available on the school website.
- If parents/carers need to enter the school site, masks must be worn and QR sign in used.
Wellness Week
This year in our school calendar we have introduced Wellness Week. Wellness Week is where students and families have a break from homework and instead focus on using that time to play some games, go for a walk, read together or watch a movie. Staff too share in this week by limiting the number of meetings and making sure that they also spend quality time with family and friends. The benefits (especially in terms of mental health) we reap from ensuring that we have some time to rest are countless! Wellness Week in Term One will take place in Week 5 (Feb 28 to March 4).
Parent Information Sessions
I would to thank our teaching staff for the time and effort that went into preparing the online information sessions for the Pre-Primary to Year 6 classes. They are very comprehensive and include all information parents need at this stage of the year. If you have any questions about any of the information presented please contact your classroom teacher.
Leadership Mass
We are able to proceed with the Leadership Mass at 9am next Tuesday February 22nd in the church. At this Mass, the Year 6’s will be presented with their leadership and committee badges. Year Six parents are able to attend the Mass with mask wearing, distancing, sign in and hygiene practices in place. The Year 5 class will also be in attendance and it will be live streamed to the rest of the school.
Play Areas / Eating
As per the directive from Catholic Education WA and the Chief Health Officer of Western Australia we have been advised to separate cohorts as best as we can within our school environment. To comply with this directive we have created a timetable of different play areas for different year groups so there is less cross over and personal contact between the years. Year levels also eat their recess and lunch in their own space with their own class. This is working well at the moment and will be reviewed regularly.
Student Health
The safety and wellbeing of all students and staff is our highest priority and as WA is now considered to be in a high caseload COVID setting we need to remain vigilant and monitor for symptoms. If your child is unwell they should not attend school and if anyone in your household displays any of the COVID-19 symptoms they should seek testing immediately, notify us and isolate until a negative result is received. Please notify us immediately of a positive test result, and note that any communications will maintain identity confidentiality. Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to keeping our community safe.
Best Wishes
Mark Ryan
