LBMS News & Updates
October 17
Innovation Day / Pirate Day a huge success
Students also participated in a Digital Citizenship lesson that focused on building a positive school culture that supports safe and responsible use of technology. Our goal is to teach students to build skills around critical thinking, ethical discussion, and good-decision making when using technology.
Students also participated in a Breakout EDU game that focused on critical thinking, teamwork, and complex problem solving. Students were given a scenario or story and given a fixed amount of time to solve a series of challenges, riddles, and mysteries in order to "break out." The game was designed so that players were immersed in the experience and raced against the clock to break out before the time expired.
Digital Citizenship Lessons
Technology has provided incredible opportunities for students to learn, connect, create, and collaborate in ways never before imagined. Navigating cyberbullying, privacy, safety, and other digital dilemmas are a real challenge in our school every day. In order to better educate our students, we have implemented a plan that will help us teach students how to be responsible technology users. We hope that by building a positive school culture that supports safe and responsible use of technology, our students will be better prepared for the technological age.
We have scheduled six school-wide Digital Citizenship/Innovation days throughout the year. On these days, every grade level will go through a through lesson on digital citizenship.
