SIC Nomination
FROM: Dr. Gerald Gary, Principal
DATE: September, 2020
RE: NOMINATION OF PARENTS TO SERVE ON THE DUTCH FORK HIGH SCHOOL – SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT COUNCIL FOR 2020 - 2021 SY
Beginning September 18th and continuing through September 22nd , nominations will be open for the names of parents of Dutch Fork High School students who would be willing to serve a two–year term (or one-year term for parents of rising seniors) on our SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT COUNCIL. Any parents interested in serving, or those who wish to submit another parent’s name, should do so on the nomination form at the bottom of the page. These names should be turned in to Dutch Fork High School (Front Office/Maribeth Harvey) no later than Tuesday, September 22nd or by email to Mrs. Harvey at mharvey@lexrich5.org. The election to select new parents to serve a two-year term or one-year term for parents of rising seniors will be conducted at Dutch Fork High School on Wednesday, September 23rd . Other interested parents can serve as representatives from the community with or without children in the district. Voting hours on September 23 will be from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM in the front office or by sending your vote electronically to mharvey@lexrich5.org. Along with the nomination form, please include a brief biographical sketch including place of employment, community service, number of children, hobbies and desires to assist in improving DFHS. In District Five, school improvement councils assist the principal in preparing the annual school reports legally required by the South Carolina Education Act of 1977. They are also involved in the budgetary process, and with strengthening communication between the school and the community. Meetings are usually scheduled on the third Monday of each month beginning at 6:00 PM in the Media Center Classroom. This year we will begin meeting virtually by Google Meet. A total of nine (9) elected parents, five (5) elected teachers, four (4) elected students and four (4) community residents, including two (2) with no school age children, serve on the Dutch Fork High School – School Improvement Council. An orientation session is held district-wide in the fall for all new School Improvement Council members.
