At a Glance
Here is his website to explore: http://www.eric-carle.com/home.html
We are studying his books for several features including: textures in his illustrations, details in his stories, and sequencing in the stories. Next week we will be making our animals with our own collage paper and writing our Eric Carle stories. Your child brought home their own tissue paper art Friday. It was fun trying to paint like Eric Carle!
Math Notes: Next week we will be focusing on subtraction-- concept and problems. Practice subtraction word problems at home. For practice at home, you can work on Envision Math Workbook Chapters 5 & 7.
Science Notes
We have also had 3 tadpoles move to our frog tank.
Spring is a great time for science exploration! Go outside and observe nature in your neighborhood.
Chick Pics!!
French Scholastic Books
Getting French books for the summer is a great way to prepare for next year. Orders are due by May 11th.
We used tissue paper just like Eric Carle.
We added texture with different objects.
It was lots of fun!
Boxtop Contest
Below are just a few reminders regarding the contest:
- Please turn in your class bag each morning by 9:00 if at all possible. We would like all bags turned in whether you have any new submissions or not (this helps us add any that may be turned in directly to the office to your totals for the day).
- Please record the child's name and total in the column for that particular day. If you do not have time to count them, the Box Tops Team will be happy to count them for you. Just make sure the child's name is listed so they get credit.
Prizes:
- Every student who turns in 50 or more unexpired Box Tops/Labels will receive a small prize from the PTO
- With this being the last contest for the school year, the class with the highest cumulative total in each grade level will receive a Chick Fil A Biscuit Party. The class with the highest Spring Contest collection total will receive a Popcorn Party. If the class that wins the cumulative total also wins the Spring Contest, then the Popcorn party will go to the class that is the runner-up for that particular grade level.
- If the school reaches the Box Top goal for the year of $5,700, the whole school will receive a Popsicle Party at recess!!!
As always, thank you for your continued support and dedication to helping us make these contests a fun, successful fundraiser for our school. Please let us know if you have any questions regarding the contest!!
Have a great rest of the week,
The Box Tops Team
