New Year Health & Safety Reminders
January 3rd, 2021
With the return to school on Monday, January 4th, 2021, and the end of the mitigation restrictions from the governor, we are reminding families to continue taking COVID-19 precautions. In particular, please review Pennsylvania's travel restrictions and, with athletics and activities resuming, limit carpooling.
Remember, if a household member has tested positive for COVID-19, it is necessary for all members of the family residing with that person to quarantine.
Please keep your student home if he/she is:
*IMPORTANT: If you have questions about your child’s quarantine, please call your school’s nurse before sending your child back to school.
Experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19. For a list of symptoms and school exclusion guidelines, please see the COVID-19 School Exclusion Requirements found on our Illness Indicators/Sick Day Guidelines Web page
Awaiting a COVID-19 test result and has not yet been cleared to return
Quarantined due to a recent close contact with an individual with COVID-19
Returned from recent travel to an area on Pennsylvania’s travel alert page
These practices are a critical part of limiting the spread of this disease in our school community and keeping our schools open. For information regarding COVID-19 cases in SASD, visit the District's COVID-19 Dashboard.
Both Montgomery County and the Pennsylvania Department of Health have made many valuable COVID-19 resources available. Please see the information below.
Getting tested for COVID-19 in Montgomery County
Montgomery County operates testing sites and has increased the number of tests administered on a daily basis. For further information, you can visit Montgomery County’s testing Web site or view the county’s map of testing sites.
COVID-19 Free Mobile App
COVID Alert PA is a free mobile app offered by the Pennsylvania Department of Health that is designed to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. The App uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology and the Exposure Notification System developed by Apple and Google to help notify and give public health guidance to anyone who may have been in close contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19. The app is available for free in the Apple app store or the Google play store. Use the following link for more information and FAQ’s about the COVID Alert PA app.
