September 12, 2021

Recently, the district sent information to our families that opted in for SHIELD testing. Within the email that was sent the district shared a video for families to watch. Our school is scheduled to have SHIELD testing done on Tuesday afternoon. If you opted in after the initial window your child will not be tested on Tuesday, but will be tested in the future.

This Friday we will conduct our first fire drill (evacuation drill) with our students. We are required to conduct three of these drills during the school year. This Friday, our school will practice this drill without the fire department. This allows our students to feel comfortable with practicing safely evacuating the building. Next month, we will have our second fire drill and we will have the fire department here observing our drill.

District Parent/Student Handbook

The 2021-22 Parent/Student Handbook is now available online! You can view it here.

  • The annual handbook is a summary of Board of Education policies governing District 15. The complete School District 15 Board of Education Policy Manual is available for public review at the District office and on the District 15 BoardDocs website. State and federal laws require school districts to notify parents and students about certain rights, responsibilities, and procedures; you will find that information in this handbook. This handbook may be amended during the year.

The handbook offers information pertinent to the District as a whole. Some programs and procedures may differ from school to school, based on the size and location of the building, the grades served, the facilities available, and the programs conducted at the school. Your school administrators will inform you of these additional procedures. The handbook is intended to be a handy resource, but is not meant to take the place of personal communication between home and school. Please feel free to call your child’s school if you have any questions on programs or procedures, or consult your school’s website.

On September 21st, our district will be hosting a career fair at the Palatine Library. This will take place from 12:00-3:00. Currently the district is seeking interested candidates to fill positions are bus drivers, substitutes, program assistants, custodians, office and library clericals. You can find more information on our district website.

I want to thank many of our parents for following our pick-up procedures. It helps us provide a safe dismissal for everyone. There are a few items we would like to remind our families for a safe dismissal process.

  • Students line-up by the letter of their last name if they are being picked up by a vehicle. Please do not ask your child to wait in another location.
  • Please pull your car all the way forward
  • Please ensure that you have your last name is in the front windshield so we can call your child's last name
  • Follow the directions given when we open "Lane 2", where you will also need to pull all the way forward.
  • Parents should not be parking in the school parking lot to pick-up students.

This year students in District 15 will be provided breakfast. This will be a grab and go type breakfast in our cafeteria. We will begin providing breakfast at 8:25 until 8:40. Students will be dismissed to their classes at 8:35. Only students wanting breakfast will be able to enter through door #7 at 8:25. All other students will be allowed into our school at 8:35.

This Wednesday we will have our PTA meeting at 7:00 in our library. We are providing a virtual option for those parents that would prefer to have attend virtually. The link for the meeting can be accessed here.
