November Events and Celebrations in Rebel Country
Beginning of Quarter 2
Students have started the second quarter of the school year. As students begin quarter 2, it is important to know that this is a chance for a fresh start and renewed focus on academics. Students continue to work on increasing their reading comprehension and social-emotional learning. They are also learning strategies to become better learners and exploring new content daily.
In the next two weeks, winter sports begin. Practices start next week for boy's basketball and wrestling. This week, girls basketball practice began. Many activities are available for students to explore and enjoy with friends. Please encourage your student to explore clubs at USC such as Robotics, Mock Trial, Knowledge Bowl, FFA, FCCLA, Theater, or a sports activity. It is not too late to join a club or sport at USC. Students can ask for more information about any sport or activity in the high school office.
USC is fortunate to have great students. Much of that is a result of what you do as parents, guardians, and family members of these young people. Thank you for your support and encouragement for your students as we work to help each student at USC be successful academically and emotionally.

Rebel Writers
Mr. Routh started Rebel Writers a couple years ago to find a way to connect USC and the community. It's a great way to share our perspectives on life, school, and students while connecting with the community.
Congratulations to Molly Wegner on her article which was recently published. Molly's article, Loss of a Patriarch, is an article with feeling and emotion wrapped up with beautiful memories. Molly encapsulates so much of the experience surrounding love and loss. It is a great article worth reading.
USC Theater Performs Beauty and the Beast
The USC students, let by director Kirstyn Wegner, put in over 130 hours of practice time and set construction time to make the performance a success. Thank you to the parent volunteers, the students, and Mrs. Wegner for all the hard work that went into this production. USC is fortunate to have the USC theater program that helps students learn confidence, public speaking skills, team work, and the value of working together towards a common goal.
