What Do Students Learn in Guidance Class?
For 2/3 of the school year all BSES students participate in a weekly 30 minute Guidance class taught by our guidance counselors. To round out their academic learning students are taught a variety of concepts and skills related to social and emotional learning as well as career education. Pull for the House!
The Helping Hands Club at Bethel Springs will be visiting Ronald McDonald House of Delaware on Monday, December 10th. We are collecting can tabs to donate during the visit. RMH takes the tabs and cashes them in for money to support their programming. If anyone has can tabs that they'd like to contribute, you or your child can drop them off at the BSES Office anytime between now and noon on Monday, 12/10. Please make sure they are in a baggie or container!

Details for Upcoming Events:
Color Me Mine Night - Bethel Springs HSA is SUPER EXCITED to present our first ever Color Me Mine Night at Bethel Springs on Friday, December 7th!! There will be two sessions (5:00-6:00pm and 6:15-7:15pm) in which kids (and adults!) can come in to school and get their inner artiste on. Snacks and water will be available for purchase. Click HERE for more details about the event. Although registration has closed for this event, there will be an extremely limited number of pieces available on a first come, first served basis.
And don’t forget that Spiritwear will also be available for purchase during the Color Me Mine event. You don’t need to paint to purchase Spiritwear, so if you’re looking for that special holiday gift but didn’t register the kids to paint, feel free to stop by between 4:45pm and 7:30pm for some (kid-free) shopping.
How the HSA is Helping to Make a Difference:
Bus Driver Appreciation - On November 27th, the HSAs from all of the GVSD schools (BSES, CES, GVES, GVHS, and GVMS) provided donuts and coffee to the district’s bus drivers as a thank-you for all they do and especially in light of the tough conditions they faced during the early dismissal on November 15th.
Library Furniture purchased with Scholastic Dollars - We were able to purchase new (toad) stools with the Scholastic Dollars we earned from last year's Spring Book Fair! These stools made a great addition to the Reading Nook at the Enchanted Forest Book Fair and now have a permanent home in the library. Coming soon are a youth couch and two youth rockers. (See pictures above.)
Picture Retakes - Thank you to Nancy Weins for making sure Picture Retakes went so smoothly last week!
Keeper of the Trail - Many thanks to the Wyzen Family for taking such great care of the Nature Trail this past week!

This Week's Fact About Greece: The Ancient Greeks created stories to understand their environment and the forces of nature and to account for the things that went on in their lives. These tales, known as myths, were spread around by travelers.
What were Myths about?
They were about gods who controlled the elements of nature. The myths told tales about powerful Olympian gods, sea gods, woodland gods, sky gods, underwater gods, half-gods, human heroes, courageous or romantic adventures, betrayals, battles, wanderings, and so on.
