Oak Hills Newsletter
June 22, 2017
Principal's Message
I can't believe this will be the last newsletter for this school year!! Thank you for all your support in making this school year a success! I would especially like to thank our PTO Executive Board for their tireless work in making sure all events and activities went without a hitch. Thank you to Wendy Turinsky, Lark Asbury, Jennifer Cooper, Melica Ellerbrook, Mandi Macaskill, and Jacqui Watson for their incredible support and dedication. I would also like to thank all the parents who helped with the 5th Grade Send-Off and Field Day today. Additionally, I would like to thank Naoko Rice, Yuka Hayashi, Sangyong Yoon and Yvett Rojo for translating our newsletters.
On another note, we have been busy continuing to welcome new staff to our school. Evelyn Boling will be our second full-time music teacher next year. Here is a note from Evelyn:
I have taught elementary music for nine years in Washington County most recently at Barnes elementary. Although I am originally from Northwest Arkansas. I received my undergraduate from the University of Arkansas and attended Portland State for my Master's Degree. I love playing the trumpet, cycling, cooking, playing with my cats and bringing the joy of music to young people. I'm excited to be joining the Oak Hills community! We have also hired Keith O'Leary and Christine Kirnak as instructional assistants to join our Intervention team. Over the next week, we hope to hire a 4th Grade teacher, too. It has sure been a busy spring!
The office will be open through next Wednesday for this school year and reopen on August 2 and August 9 from 8 to noon. On August 14, all office staff will be back full-time. If you should need any assistance, please feel free to email myself or Jennifer Demartino, our new Assistant Principal, over the summer.
I have truly enjoyed my first year at Oak Hills! I look forward to serving this incredible community in the years to come. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity.
Have a great summer.
Warm regards,
Sheila Baumgardner
Water bottle filling station update:
The Green Team's campaign is off to a great start, with a very generous $1,000 donation from a local business, MedConnect Pro! Thank you MedConnect Pro and all others who have contributed. We still have a gap of $1,580. Can you help?
Check out this video about the project.
Let's get this funded and installed next school year!
Tax-deductible donations kindly accepted here: http://www.oakhillspto.org/ (Scroll down to the yellow donate button on the left).
Every single dollar donated will go to this project and be part of Oak Hills School forever!
