Friendly Reminder:

We've been having some opportunities with children being dropped off early. You cannot drop your children off unsupervised at Maple Dale BEFORE 9:05 am. If you have any questions, please refer to our Student-Parent Handbook: "Students cannot arrive at school before 9:05 am as the school does not have personnel available at that time to provide supervision."

Wanted: Paper Towel and Toilet Paper Tubes

Mr. Conklin, the Art Teacher, is in need of paper towel and toilet paper tubes for our 3rd grade class to make sculptures for their upcoming performance. Mr. Conklin will leave a box outside of his room for the collection. If everyone can bring in at least 2 each, we should be able to reach our goal!

Free and reduced benefits ending soon!

The roll off date for Free and Reduced benefits from the 2017-2018 school year is September 26th. On Sept. 27th if you have not reapplied for the Free and Reduced Price Meal Program for the 2018-2019 school year your benefits will revert to full pay. The district will not cover any negative funds accrued after this cut off date, so it is imperative the form is turned in before Sept 26th. Please contact the Child Nutrition Department with any questions - (513) 686-1796.

Maple Dale School Grants Available - What would you like to see the PTO invest in?

The PTO is planning to approve additional proposals for School Grants at the October 11th General Meeting. Students, parents, teachers, and staff are invited to submit proposals for expenditures. Proposals acceptable to the school administration will be evaluated by the PTO Executive board based on the number of students who will benefit and by the impact of the proposal on the educational achievement of students.

This round of funding will award up to $10,000. Requests not approved this fall may be carried over until the spring grant period.
Guidelines for expenditures:
- proposals may be submitted by any member of the PTO or the children of any member of the PTO (It’s not too late to join! mdpto.org)
- proposals must include all requested information
- requests are due by September 28, 2018.

Cookbooks for Sale!

Get yourself a one-of-a-kind Maple Dale Cookbook and make Mr. Schneider's "Award-winning" chili. The cookbooks are $13.50 and ALL the proceeds go to the United Pet Fund. So, grab yourself (and maybe a few friends) a cookbook AND help our furry friends out as well! (Fun fact: the illustrations inside are drawn by our last year's 2nd grade class.)

Green Team Tip of the Week

The Green Team is recruiting volunteers for a Maple Dale Beautification Day on Sunday, October 14, 1-4pm. We'll be planting bulbs and small perennials, and amending soil with compost - green thumbs, black thumbs, and all ages are welcome! Sycamore High School Variety Show

Sycamore High School Auditorium

Sycamore High School Hosts Variety Show Saturday, October 6th @ 7p in the HS Auditorium. Tickets: $10 available pre-sale at www.aveschoir.org starting September 21st / $12 at the door.

Acts feature groups and soloists who are members of the student body including vocal and instrumental groups, cool human tricks, gymnastics, a performance by all choral ensembles and more! Proceeds benefit the Sycamore Vocal Boosters.

14th Annual iSPACE Day October 6, 2018

October 6, 2018 10:00 am – 2:00 pm


Soar in for a payload of hands-on family activities and demonstrations! iSPACE Day is an annual event that showcases the wonders of STEM education and careers. Booths and demonstrations are conducted by local businesses that work in STEM disciplines. Along with community partners, we are celebrating all things to do with space! Try on a Space Suit, Launch Rockets, Drive a Robot, Look through a Telescope, and so much more. Spend your Saturday exploring the latest in 3D Printing, Surgical Instrument Advancements, Aircraft Engines, GPS, Drone Technology, and other amazing advancements in STEM!
