Artizens Unite!

A FHSD Fine Arts Social Community

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and a chance to recharge before starting a new school year. If we haven't had the chance to meet yet, let me introduce myself. My name is Michelle Ridlen and I am the district K - 12 Fine Arts Content Leader. I work with teachers in the creation of our Fine Arts curriculum and work to support its implementation. I am here as a resource for you and look forward to working with you this year!

In numerous conversations with my fellow teachers, I have heard a desire for more chances to get together across disciplines and throughout grade levels. I have also heard a desire to engage in more fine arts activities. I thought it would be great to have more like minded people to do artsy-type things with, and so over the summer I had this crazy idea to organize events throughout our community that would allow us to engage with the arts around us!

Right now I have a family tour at the St. Louis Art Museum, a showing of West Side Story at the Muny, St. Louis Design Week, a jazz rendition of Stravinksy's Rite of Spring, The Wizard of Oz at The Fox, and Ben Folds at the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, plus many many more. Check out my website at for more information about upcoming events and to sign up if you are interested in joining!

These are all completely voluntary and are meant to be a fun way to socialize and get to know each other a bit better. Some events are more for adults and some are so that you can bring the family too! I'm hoping to get groups together so we can get group discounts, meet up, and just have a great time! If you have any ideas for concerts, shows, or other fine arts events you think we might all enjoy, please email me your ideas. I'm always open to adding things to the calendar.

I'm really looking forward to seeing you out and about and strengthening the support of our FHSD fine arts community.

I hope you have a great year and please contact me anytime if you have any questions, concerns, or comments.
