PLC Feedback
Plus:
- I like knowing what is happening with our 5th grader/team. They seem so isolated in the basement and it was nice to sit down with them to see how things particularly shift between 5th and 6th grade.
- Great having vertical teaming and time to look at data
- I really liked working with 8th grade to create common expectations. It was nice to hear each others ideas and come up with a way to compromise to create a more consistent environment.
- Working with our teams
- I was with 8th grade during improvement team and felt everyone was engaged and working hard and being productive. We went through each kid that was on high alert and identified interventions that are in place to help them succeed.
- Appreciated time to vertical team. Feel like our time during PLC yesterday was respected.
- I truly benefited from the Vertical meeting. Being able to be consistent with the students. That way the 7th grade students know what is expected of them when they enter the 8th grade.
- It was good to talk with 5th grade and hear their feedback.
- Used Star data to fill in improvement team sheet
- I like vertical teaming, I think it was good to get on the same page on expectations.
- Informational, good discussion on consistent expectations across grade levels
- I believe this opens dialogue between the grade levels, and helps there to be consistency throughout the building. (Especially with behavior expectations.)
- Improvement Team time was beneficial.
- Vertical collaboration was purposeful and a good conversation. Improvement team time was also very productive and we shared information.
- It was good to be able to meet with our team to help recognize students who may need extra support and discuss where the support is needed. It was also good to talk with 6th grade to see how the year is going so far and get feedback and direction for next year with our current group.
DELTAS:
- Some people were confused where to go or be for Improvement Time. We had a late start due to someone being gone for the majority of Improvement Time.
- Nice if ELA teachers could be with their grade level improvement team
- Ruiz was with the ELA teachers, I wish he was able to stay with the 7th grade team since this is the only time that we are all able to meet together as we do not share a plan.
- Climate in meetings was very frustrated and not super productive
- I wish McCarty would've been in there for her input as well.
- Concerned that their are some pretty big gaps in behavior and academic expectations between grade levels.
- Wish there was more time.
- I feel our entire team should meet with us on PLC days.
- Was not relevant to what I taught.
- It would be great to meet as a grade level team for Improvement Team Time, so we can hear from the ELA teacher in how to help support that standard in our classroom. Then the following week, ELA can meet together and talk about how they can help each other spiral that standard vertically.
- time (there is never enough)
- Dialogue should happen between 4th and 5th grade teachers, so students can be better prepared for the transition. .
- Not much was accomplished during vertical team time due to differences on team views of student expectations.
- None
- More time could have given us a chance to really discuss in detail some areas of focus between 5th and 6th grade
Administration Out of the Office
Website Approval
This school year when a staff member (or students via a staff member) make a request to have a website unblocked the following is the specific protocol that must be used to do so. If you try to send a request via email or phone call or directly to the Tech Dept. the site will not be reviewed.
The form for our building can be found here:
Website Review Protocol
User identifies site or sites blocked
If user is student, site is shared with staff member associated with work being done that needs access to site.
Staff member briefly reviews site to determine initial appropriateness (source URL, basic review of site if staff can access)
If staff member feels request for access to the site has merit, they may submit site for review via a their building’s Google Form, reporting site URL, staff name, student name, and reason for request
Building representative (typically the school’s librarian) receives notice of request; reviews site.
If building representative feels site is appropriate, representative works with technology to ensure there are no technical issues that could arise (site installs malware, virus, etc.).
If technology does not identify technical problems, site is opened
Building representative reports back to staff and student with results/findings.
Appeals can be made to the building principal/director.
