Master Class with Irit Dulman
Natural Hand Writing
Botanical Prints on Felt, Wool and Silk
The workshop will be an immersive, deep exploration of eco-print on silk, wool and wool felt where we work with natural fibers from an artistic and design perspective.
Printing on various pieces of silk and making felted wool samples with fibers like silk and hemp will be the focus of the first day, and will progress to printing on wool fabric and the felted samples on the second day of the workshop.
Techniques for folding fabrics and a number of methods to apply metal to achieve different, creative results will be covered. Also, the steps to prepare the bundles, the dye bath and complete the dyeing process will be part of this workshop.
To showcase the numerous, beautiful print creations from the first two days we will create a lovely, seamless felted book that brings together the wide variety of prints and techniques we have explored. You will take home from this class a felted book and a variety of printed fabric and scarves (depending on how you choose to cut your fabric).
This is also a wonderful opportunity to interact with Irit - she will be leading an in-depth discussion of techniques and will show samples of her own work.
