Be Kind - Work Hard - Show Courage
These are the words that are on the back of the staff's PVP T-shirts. These are the words that are said every morning on the school announcement as a part of the PVP Bravo Pledge, and these are the words that Mr. Michaud has practiced each and every day during his time at Pleasant Valley Primary. Because of Mr. Michaud and his Kindness, Hard Work, and Courage, this motto is the foundation for what is done at PVP and the culture that shapes who we are as a community. When walking the halls of our school, playing with students at recess, visiting classrooms, and interacting with the community at events as well as before and after school, you can't help but be witness to the various examples of how the entire PVP community consisting of students, staff, and families exude exactly what Mr. Michaud brought to PVP, encouraged PVP to strive for, and now is leaving us with the foundation of what PVP has become thanks to Mr. Michaud's willingness to personally strive for and demand everyone to BE KIND - WORK HARD - and SHOW COURAGE. Thank you Mr. Michaud for serving all of us at PVP so well and for dedicating your time and energy to help us best serve our students and community each and every day!
Below are some examples of what staff appreciate about your dedication to PVP...
- It has been a blessing to have a principal who truly cares about each individual student and staff member. - Mrs. Walsh
- I wasn't sure we'd survive without a DAD voice but you really pulled it off! I've grown to appreciate your kind and thoughtful way of dealing with people. Thank you! - Mrs. Holterman
- I enjoy and appreciate how Mike takes the time everyday to remind every student that they are safe, loved and cared for at PVP. - Mrs. Halverson
- Mike leads our staff in making sure that the students feel welcome and nurtured while they are at school. - Mrs. Hoffmann
Kindergarten Orientation for the 2019-2020 School Year
On May 23rd, PVP hosted roughly 70 families of incoming kindergarten student. This was an amazing evening for both the staff of PVP as well as the incoming students and their families. Students were able to visit a kindergarten classroom while working on some fun activities, meeting kindergarten teachers, other staff, and future peers. Parents were able to learn about PVP, and what kindergarten will look like for their incoming student.
Once the presentation and classroom time were over, families enjoyed BBQ hot dogs which Mr. Michaud prepared as well as chips, cookies, and of course the Kona Ice Snow Cone truck.
PVP is so excited to welcome our incoming students and can't wait for them to officially be a part of our PVP community!
PTA Recognition and Awards
On May 28th, at the Pleasant Valley PTA Board meeting, there was a special celebration and dinner in order to recognize and honor the many PTA board members, school staff, volunteers, and other individuals who work hard at making a positive difference for our staff and students.
This was a great event and we would like to recognize and acknowledge the following individuals...
Stacy Crain, Bonnie Roggenkamp, and Dusty Tarpley were recognized at last night's PV PTA Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. Stacy received the PVP Volunteer of the Year Award. Bonnie received the PTA Outstanding Advocate Award. Dusty Tarpley received the PTA Honorary Lifetime Membership Award. Congratulations, Dusty! Balancing the maintenance and operation of 2 buildings is a giant responsibility. These three individuals were certainly deserving of the recognition. Please congratulate Stacy, Bonnie, and Dusty if you see them in the coming days.
Marina Heinz, Jared Tormohlen, Karyn Loftessness, Cora Martin, Patty Todd and Leila Hufstettler were also nominated for one of the evening's awards.
Thank you for your attendance and donations. We couldn't host this event without your generous contributions and support.
Future Chef Competition Meal
Our very own 4th grade student Nathaniel Jarrett was a finalist for our local Future Chef competition. His recipe made it to the top 40 regional finalists. We are very excited about this huge accomplishment.
Nathaniel's recipe will be served to all of the primary students across the entire Battle Ground School District on June 4th and Nathaniel will be serving this lunch to his 4th grade peers on this day.
Great job Nathaniel!!
Woooo Hoooo ...Classrooms Filled Their Beaver Bravo Jar!!!
Every time a student is recognized for displaying positive behaviors that meet one of our school wide expectations, they receive a Beaver Bravo. They then put this Bravo into their classroom jar and with every individual positive behavior that is recognized, classroom jars soon fill up. Once full, the class dumps their jar into our school wide jar located in the main office which results in a spirit day celebration as soon as our school jar is full. What happens as a result of all of these collective positive behaviors? They ALL help shape Pleasant Valley Primary into the amazing community that we all have the privilege of being part of every single day!
