Clinton Middle School Newsletter - October 15, 2021
Dear Wildcat Family,
It is hard to believe, but we are wrapping up our first quarter. While we certainly have faced our share of challenges, it has warmed my heart to see our students regain some sense of normalcy through the return of face-to-face opportunities in our Wildcat Academy, athletic competitions, our upcoming Spirit Week, and a return to the impactful instructional methods that promote student learning!
I want to encourage you to stay connected to your student's teacher. The easiest way is to log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal. This will give you the most up-to-date grades, assignments due, and attendance numbers. If you do not have access, you can drop by the school and speak with Carolyn Tinsley, our PowerSchool clerk. You only need to bring a photo ID to gain access.
This week, our teachers are scheduling parent-teacher conferences. Thursday is a half-day for students, but our teachers are lining up conferences throughout the afternoon on that day. For some of you, a teacher may have already reached out. If you have any concerns at all or even if you just want a chance for a one-to-one conversation, let me encourage you to email or call your child's teacher.
Our teachers work very hard! However, we all realize that it is a joint venture between parents, teachers, school staff, and the community to provide a pathway to success for your student! Don't ever hesitate to let me know how we can build that partnership.
Have a great weekend!
Jeff

MARVELOUS MUSICIANS!
Congratulations to four of our band members who have been selected to be a part of the Limestone University Middle School Honor Band. Tikerra Adams, Gemma Gearheart, Richard Santiago, and Colton Tenry recently received this recognition. We are extremely proud of their accomplishment. They will attend a clinic on November 18 and 19 and perform a concert on November 19. Great job, Wildcats!
On Saturday, the Clinton High School Devil Regiment finished 3rd in their class at the Boiling Springs Festival of the Bands. Included in the band are nine Clinton Middle School Wildcats!
SPORTS SPOTLIGHT
On Monday, October 11 the CMS Wildcats football team traveled to Johnston, SC to face JET. The Wildcats won the game 18-16. The Wildcats led 12-0 in the first quarter and would hold on to win 18-16. Coach Wilson would like to recognize Chris Boyd, Nyterian Smith and Ty Truitt as standouts. The Offensive and Defensive lines played great as well!
Yesterday, the football team traveled to Saluda. The Wildcats jumped out to an early 14 lead. The Wildcats were led on offense by Jayden Glenn, Chris Boyd, Javon Cook, Nyterian Smith, KJ Vance and Noah Garrett. The offensive line did a great job blocking. The guys upfront were led by Garrison Vaughan and Tanner Finley. Brock Franklin did a fine job kicking the ball as well. On defense Tre Aiken had a "pick 6" and returned the ball 60 yards for a touchdown! Saluda was a talented team but our defense played well and only gave up 8 points. The Wildcats improved to 2-3 on the year and play at home on Wednesday October 20 at 5 pm.
The Wildcats had a tough lost in volleyball to EMS on Monday. The team played extremely well but fell short of the victory. They then took to the road to beat JET on Wednesday. The girls were able to overcome the distractions and focus to bring home the win. A’Niyla Grant, Madi Porter, and Caylee Eubanks played some big roles by serving over 6 in a row. Thanks to their consistent serves we were able to get ahead early and win! Way to go, Wildcats!
Last Saturday, the Clinton High School Competitive Cheer team won the AAA division at the Demon Cheer Classic. Several members of that team are Clinton Middle School students. Great job, Wildcats!
