Opening Hook King of the Hill Competition
This week, the students of the Blue Team competed in The Opening Hook King of the Hill Competition.
The Opening Hook King of the Hill is a game where students compete by reading one professionally written opening hook against one read by another student, and the class decides which one is the better hook. The winning hook and its champion compete in the next round against the new challenger. The final winner is crowned the King or Queen of the Hill.

Cross Country
A little rain didn’t stop the cross country team from taking on a strong Upper Twp. team Tuesday in their first race. Both the girls and boys teams showcased their determination and hard work by running plenty of new personal best times over the mile and a half course.
The girls returning MVP Molly Rooney started off the season strong with a first place finish. Followed by top performances by Neena Peter in 2nd place and Emma Baird in 4th both stepping up to the competition by running season personal bests. Unfortunately, the girls lost by one point as a team as a pack of Upper runners took the next 5 spots. We will see them again at the end of the season.
The top boys performance of the day was Brayden Widas who hung on to third place after a
grueling race and ran a full minute faster than his previous personal best. Other top performers were Jeremy Cook and Martin Rodriguez. Both running over a minute faster than their previous Personal bests.

Quad Meet vs. Galloway, Ocean City, and Alder
Thursday, September 28th 2023
Rain, 20 mile per hour winds, and sand…. Just another day for the cross country team as they took on Galloway, Alder, and Ocean City on the Ocean City beach Thursday. Nearly one hundred student athletes competed and put the race totals to about 50 for the girls and boys races separately.
In a hard fought race and in two of the fastest times of the day overall, Molly Rooney placed second for the girls with Neena Peter coming in 4th. Honorable mentions to Kacey Denning, Callie Kowaleski, and Avery DelPrete for solid top finishes as well.
For the boys.. Brayden Widas again fought his way into the top 3 with a 3rd place finish, followed by Martin Rodriguez in 4th, and Eason Lassiter in 5th. Jeremy Cook and Connor Adderly helped the boys secure wins over Alder and Galloway, but it wasn’t enough to beat Ocean City.
