Notes from the Teacher
It is so good to be back with this fun and bright group! We have had a great two weeks settling into new norms.
I have sent home an order form from Student Treasures book. PLEASE READ the attached note - we have grant money that will allow every student to have one FREE book, but if you want to order more, the form will need to be returned.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
We are learning...
- Identify the parts of a story including the squence of events
- Long O words with oa and ow
We will be reading text that supports the target strategy of Sequence of Events. Readers will practice retelling a story in their own words with the correct sequence.
Math
- Collect, organize and interpret data
We began our work with Unit 6 this week focusing on collecting data and organizing it. We will be practicing how to read data with words like more and fewer.
Writing
- The writing process
Students are working as a class to publish a book. We have started to plan our writing and several students are on their first draft. This book will be published and bound for students to keep!
IMPORTANT!
Save our PTSA: Ardmore parents needed
PLEASE READ: Ardmore PTSA is in danger of folding next year
Dear Ardmore parents,
Despite several months of recruiting, we have not found enough volunteers willing or able serve as Ardmore PTSA officers next year.
We are now in danger of losing our PTSA and everything it funds, including:
· Science Fair
· Ardmore Olympics
· Field trips
· Multicultural Night
· Library books
· Teacher grants for class projects and supplies
· Family fun nights, including movies and games nights
· Emergency financial support for Ardmore students in need
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?
As you may know, the PTSA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. By law, certain functions must be maintained in order for any school’s PTSA to raise or distribute funds. At a school like Ardmore, where many of our families face financial challenges, this is a critical function.
None of the current PTSA executive officers are returning next year, either because they’re term-limited, or because they’re graduating out of the school.
WHAT DO WE NEED?
For the PTSA to continue, we need at least four volunteers to step up to fill the following roles:
President
Vice President
Treasurer
Secretary
All roles (except Treasurer) can be filled by more than one person. Do you have a friend you want to share a position with? Or, would you like to serve with someone? Co-officers can be elected.
WILL YOU CONSIDER SERVING?
We’ll have two informational nights for anyone interested in learning more:
Wednesday, May 9, 5:30pm – 6:30 pm, Ardmore Library
Tuesday, May 22, 5:30 – 6:30 pm, Ardmore Library
To be considered for one of the roles, please visit the school office for a form or email any of the nominating committee members:
