Immigration to Texas

About the Country

The Czech people originally came to Texas because it was free, had wonderful fertile soil to offer, and cheap land. There was plenty of land and because of the 1848 Revolution Communize Texas was an ideal place for them to call their home. They began to settle around the 1800s in an area called Fayette County. A man named Josef Arnost Bergmann was given the credit of many Czech people for being their base reason for immigrating to Texas in the first place because of a letter he wrote back to his home about the joys of Texas.
