Welcome Students & The Class of 2018
PTSA - Parent, Teacher, Student Association
Important Updates for the Start of School
Student Drivers - The South Parking (typically the student lot) is scheduled to be open to/from Kauffman road only. Students may park in this lot and parking permits will be given out the first week of school. Access around the building will be closed (around the football stadium side of the building will be closed). If students are late to school, they will need to park in the south lot and walk up the Kauffman road sidewalk to the main entrance.
Parent Pick Up/Drop Off - All parent pick up and drop offs will take place at the Main Entrance to the school (the round lot in the front that is adjacent to the District Office). For Drop Off, please drop off and continue moving to allow for other parents to get in. Pick Up, please line up along the curb all the way up past the District Office. Parents will not be able to make a left out of the front lot due to the closure of School Lane with dismissal. Since School Lane is closed, entrance to the front of the building will only be possible via Kauffman Road. We will have a small portion near the entrance coned off so our vans can drop off students who need access via the handicap entrance. Please respect this area by not parking between the cones.
- Bus Drop Off/Pick Up - The buses will be dropping off and picking up at the North Entrance of School Lane (near Ringing Rocks & the 100 wing entrance). Please share the Bus Dismissal Lineup with your students so they know where to find their bus at dismissal. Click Here for the Bus Dismissal Map. Also, students can find the bus schedule by Clicking Here.
- Bus Dismissal Map - Click Here to view the Bus Dismissal map and please share it with your students. Please print out a copy for your student to bring to school on Monday. This will help them find their bus once school is over.
- Western Center/ROTC Pick Up/Drop Off - The buses will be parked in the West Lot next to the tennis courts for pick up/drop off for all Western Center and ROTC students.

- Clothing is not permitted to promote drugs, alcohol, sex, violence, weapons, or anything else that is against school code.
- Hats are not permitted during the school day
Renovation Update:
Check out Renovation Updates by Clicking Here
- 400 Wing - The classes in the 400 wing will be closed for the start of school due to renovations. However, the hallway will be open ONLY during these times: 7:00-7:30 a.m. and for 15 minutes at dismissal. Students are to stay out of this area at all other times. We expect this wing to reopen later in the fall. Classes in this area have been moved and that should be reflected on your child's schedule. The 400 Wing will BE CLOSED during the school day but it will open for a short window at the arrival and dismissal of school for students who parked in the south lot. If a student driver arrives late to school, they will need to park in the south lot and walk up the Kauffman road sidewalk to the main entrance.
- Gymnasium - Construction of the new gymnasium is still in the foundational stage. The area has been cleared and prepped for the gym.
- Kauffman Road South Entrance - We are on schedule to open the south entrance to PGHS via Kauffman Road on the first school day. However, this road will only be for students parking in the South lot. This road will be closed to traffic during/after school hours due to construction.
- Cafeteria - The fencing is up for the new construction of the cafeteria. Construction started last week with the destruction of the overhang and sidewalk and clearing of the area.
- Hallways - The ceiling tiles have been removed in most hallways allowing contractors access to the wiring during pm hours.
- Classrooms - Other than the 400 wing and the music area, general education classrooms will not be renovated until Summer 2015.
PGHS School Improvement
Continuous improvement is a major focus at PGHS. The goal setting that goes behind improvement is called School Improve Plan or the acronym SIP. The school SIP builds off of the District Improvement Plan.
Below are the goals for the district.
District Goals for 2014 – 15
1. Curriculum Alignment - Establish a district system that fully ensures consistent implementation of standards aligned curricula across all schools for all students.
2. Effective Instructional Practices - Establish a district system that fully ensures the consistent implementation of effective instructional practices across all classrooms in each school.
3. Interventions for At Risk Students - Establish a district system that fully ensures students who are academically at risk are identified early and are supported by a process that provides interventions based upon student needs and includes procedures for monitoring effectiveness.
4. Community - Establish a system within the district that fully ensures each member of the district community promotes, enhances and sustains a shared vision of positive school climate and ensures family and community support of student participation in the learning process.
5. Budget - Establish a budget process to improve the clarity, transparency and communication of the budget adoption process as well as the composition of the District budget.
6. HS Renovations - Efficiently and effectively manage the construction process and fiscal impact of the Pottsgrove High School Renovation Project to ensure positive outcomes for our students.
A team of PGHS faculty and staff members selected three goals from the district's goals to use as areas of focus. After collaboration, examination of recent Keystone data, and the needs of PGHS, our team decided to focus on these three areas:
PGHS Goals for 14-15
1. Standards Aligned Curriculum - Establish a district system that fully ensures consistent implementation of standards aligned curricula across all schools for all students.
2. Effective Instructional Practices - Establish a district system that fully ensures the consistent implementation of effective instructional practices across all classrooms in each school.
3. Interventions for At-Risk Students - Establish a district system that fully ensures students who are academically at risk are identified early and are supported by a process that provides interventions based upon student needs and includes procedures for monitoring effectiveness.
