October is Outdoor Time!
The weather is FINALLY beginning to cool down a little bit. As we head into fall, it’s a great time to get outdoors and get healthy. Enjoying nature is a good way to help our physical and emotional health. If you’re like me, being pent up during the crispy hot days of summer can wear on you. Here are some fun ideas to enjoy the outdoors with your family.
Visit Phoenix has a list of places around Phoenix to enjoy a picnic. https://www.visitphoenix.com/blog/post/best-places-for-a-picnic-in-phoenix/

Second Step Information
As part of our commitment to prevention education and supporting the whole child, Gilbert Public Schools is offering social and emotional learning, life skills opportunities as part of the Second Step Program. The program is an evidence based social emotional learning program designed to support students’ school performance.
Our school social workers have been trained to support facilitation of the curriculum, and are responsible for conducting the presentations to students alongside classroom teachers.
If you do not wish for your child to participate in the lessons, please complete the parent permission slip that will be sent to you prior to the start of student presentations. Please return the slip to your child’s school. If we do not hear from you, we will assume your child has permission to participate in this program. If you decide to OPT OUT your student from participating in the Second Step program, your student will remain in the classroom to read or complete other school work.
Please contact Michelle Ybarra, by phone 480-507-1359 ext. 1354 or by email at michelle.fontaineybarra@gilbertschools.net if you have any questions or would like further information regarding the program. Thank you for your support as we work to build a safe and supportive school community.
