Reading Informational Texts
We are well underway with our third reading and writing units. They are both centered around being informational readers and writers. The students have been immersed in the topics of their choice. Hopefully, you are hearing them spout out some interesting facts and thoughts. :) We have learned how to stop and jot down notes as we read and how to turn those notes into a report. We are working on supporting our answers to questions with evidence from the text. Soon, we will work on summarizing a nonfiction text, with a main idea and supporting details.
Our Flat Stanley's are ready to travel the country!
Look What We're Learning!
Math: We learned three different strategies for multiplication. We can draw a picture with EQUAL GROUPS. We can do REPEATED ADDITION. We can draw an ARRAY. When we come back from break, we will begin multiplication shortcuts and fluency.
Inquiry: We created and mailed our own Flat Stanleys. They are on their way to 17 different states and one different country!
Writing: Writing a nonfiction report
Reading: Asking and answering questions about nonfiction text

Grandparents and Special Person Day!
We had a blast with our special guests today. It was great to show off our hard work and skills to people we love. The kids were all smiles. Thanks to all that participated in this special day!
