Be a Difference Maker
"Love isn't a state of perfect caring. It is an active noun like struggle. To love someone is to strive to accept that person exactly the way her or she is, right here and now."

We Are the Decisive Element
The term "difference maker" is tossed around a lot and in a lot of different arenas. The worry is that such a powerful phrase can lose its meaning by becoming cliche and watered down. In school we are all difference-makers by the sheer nature of our j-o-b. Doing nothing or doing something affects our students either in a way that is negative or is positive. The challenge, then, is to look at our work, rather than our actions as just a job. If we understand the potential we hold, the work we put in for students and for each other is active, intentional, and compassionate when we are being a difference maker. A difference maker engages others to bring out their best effort. There is an invisible energy that is felt and noticed when around a difference maker. Those who recognize and embrace this awesome opportunity are welcome to come to the office and ask Jaelen, Jamie, Krystal or Sherri for a shirt that let’s everyone know that you are proud to be a difference maker in your life and in our school. Thank you for your work with students and adults, it truly does make a difference.
Yep, YOU!
You made a difference in the lives of students today. Maybe you helped them with their math, maybe you greeted them when they arrived at school, maybe you called home to share some good news, maybe you checked in on them because they needed some love, maybe you reassured them when they were in survival mode. Thank you for being intentional about helping - all gestures, big or small, impact the lives of our students and help them feel safe with us.
Motivation
As of this writing there are 83 days of school left in the school year. In February, 26 school days from now, we will review goals again. Research tells us that it takes 21 days to form a habit. What will you want to accomplish between now and when we meet individually? “Motivation becomes easier when we transform a chore into a choice. Doing so gives us a sense of control. To generate motivation make a choice that puts you in control.” - Charles Duhigg, Smarter, Faster, Better.
Can you help?
