From the Principal's Desk

I hope you enjoyed last weekend's extra day! Teachers spent Monday learning about the new phonics and comprehension programs that we are using at the elementary level. If your child is in Kindergarten, First, or Second grade you might want to ask them about the Letterland characters they have met. The students are really enjoying the fun interactive way of learning letters, sounds, and phonics rules that will help them in their reading and writing as they move through school.

We are really gearing up for the Parent Information Night next Thursday. An RSVP slip came home earlier this week and we have had a great response so far. If you have misplaced the sheet, please call Harriet so we can get you signed up for this great opportunity to work with the teachers to learn about the self-regulation skills we are teaching in school as well as the language we use to reinforce these skills. There will be lots of take home material that will help strengthen the home-school connections. Please join us! Childcare and dinner will be provided for any children who attend. We do need a head count for dinner, so please let us know if your children are going to attend.

Veteran's Day is coming up quickly. FES is partnering with the Francestown Patriotic Purposes Committee to provide some refreshments at the Veteran's Day Parade on November 11. I will be sending out a Sign-Up Genius next week to ask for volunteers to bake something to contribute or to serve during the Luncheon. This is a great opportunity for FES to connect with the greater community. The Patriotic Purposes Committee is very supportive of FES, by not only providing a stipend for this event, but also reimbursing anyone the cost of ingredients purchased for the refreshments. More details will be in the Sign-Up Genius, please keep an eye out.

Have a great weekend!

Parent Information Night

An invitation was sent out last week about our upcoming Parent Information Night. If you haven't had a chance to RSVP, please do so by clicking on the form below. We have a great evening planned for you. This interactive evening will focus on how we promote positive behavior in school. We will help you understand our behavior expectations at FES as well as the language we use as we help our students to learn self-regulation skills. We look forward to this great evening. Child care will be available and pizza and juice will be served to the children.
