Alice Carlson Applied Learning Center

Summer Launch

The district is offering a K-5 summer learning program for all. Depending on the unique needs of each campus and the availability of staff, nearby campuses may be consolidated. It could mean that our campus is used and teachers from other campuses come to Carlson to teach or that Carlson students who register for summer school attend at another location. This will all depend on numbers across the district.

Dates and Times

Wednesday, June 23 – Thursday, July 22

Student report time: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Teacher report time: 7:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Curriculum will be developed by the Department of Curriculum and Instruction and be delivered in-person only.

Students will be enrolled in the general summer school program incorporating literacy and math skills with embedded social-emotional skills.

Chromebook Summer Use

The district has determined that students will keep devices over the summer. If your child is leaving FWISD, the device must be returned to Carlson. Students entering middle school in FWISD will transition with their device.

Kinder/1st Grade Families:

We did not pass out devices to all students in kinder or 1st grade. Please fill out the Google Form linked below if you would like your kinder or first grade student to check out their district issued device over the summer.

ESSER Funds Stakeholder Feedback Session

In 2020 and 2021, Congress passed three stimulus bills that provided nearly $190.5 billion to the Elementary and Secondary Emergency Education Relief (ESSER) Fund. Fort Worth ISD is slated to receive a portion of these relief funds to address the impact that COVID-19 has had. Superintendent Kent P. Scribner and Chief Academic Officer Jerry Moore will lead the discussion as the District seeks input from parents and other stakeholders about how we will use the ESSER funds provided by the Federal government.
