Copper Hill Library
November 2018
Around the library...
November may have been short on days, but it was big on learning! This month, kindergarten and first grade thought about making text connections between books and to themselves, as well as discussed the ingredients for a really good story. Second grade switched gears and has begun a super secret biography research project. They are using PebbleGo to choose their person. Third and fourth grade have also moved onto nonfiction. In third, we looked at two different types of nonfiction: expository and narrative. We used our examples to help us extract information about how people celebrate Thanksgiving. One of the things we learned was that our Thanksgiving traditions have some very deep roots! In fourth grade, we are prepping for research that will come later in the language arts unit. We have been scavenging electronic resources for facts and are learning how to become WISE researchers! So much fun stuff this month!
