Redhawk Report

Week of 9/21 - 9/25

Distribution week and i-Ready testing

This week we saw lots more learning and hard work from our students and staff. Many students had the opportunity to take the i-Ready assessment and show off what they have learned so far and we had very successful distribution events. Thank you for your continued partnership.

Virtual back-to-school night next week!

Next week we will be having a virtual back-to-school information night. We are very excited to see many of our families and provide you with lots of information about this school year!

Our open house event will take place on Tuesday, September 29th from 5:00PM - 6:00PM. You will receive an email from Neely-O'Brien with a link in it that will take you to our event page.

At this event, your student's classroom teacher will be hosting class meetings. You can attend those meetings from 5:05PM - 5:25PM or 5:35PM - 5:55PM.

Some of the other awesome stuff we'll have available will be:

  • Information from the Neely-O'Brien PTA
  • Technical troubleshooting resources
  • Information on specialists, PE, Library and Music
  • Information on our Communities in Schools program
  • And more!

We will also have a virtual scavenger hunt available and five families that complete the scavenger hunt will win an awesome prize that will be mailed to them after the event!

Awesome Distribution Event!

We had an awesome week of distribution! 452 students were able to pick up math and reading books. Thank you so much for your partnership in this event and a huge thank you to the volunteers that helped hand things out!

If you were unable to attend the distribution events, we are still able to hand out materials by appointment. Please send an email to if you would like to schedule a time to come to the school for supplies.

Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month

The National Hispanic Heritage Month takes place from September 15th to October 15th. We are so grateful for our staff, families and students of Hispanic descent and value the incredible contributions they make to our Neely-O'Brien community every day.

Check out the videos below that were made in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month by two members of our Kent School District community, Karla Esparza, a teacher at Scenic Hill Elementary and Jackie Fuentes, a paraeducator from Kent Elementary.
