Breakfast and Books with Buddies
We are excited to try something new this year to kick off I Love To Read Month! On Wednesday, January 27th, from 8:00 - 8:30, we will be hosting a virtual event called Books and Breakfast with Buddies! This event will be for our K-7 students and families. On the morning of January 27th, instead of having our morning meeting, families will have the option to sign up for a breakfast delivery, and every student will be receiving a new book! We are asking for “buddies” (moms, dads, grandparents, older siblings, aunts, uncles, older cousins, caretakers, guardians - anyone over the age of 18) to volunteer to share their favorite short picture book with the students. If you don’t have a favorite book, but would like to read to a group of students, we will gladly send a book to you to read! Even students who don't have a buddy to join them will have breakfast delivered, be included in small groups, and have the pleasure of listening to other buddies read to them. Please take time to fill out the google form by to let us know if you are interested in participating in this event!

ELA- Ms. Cartelli
Students in my advisory should join our check-in every week, even if it's just to say hi.
We are wrapping up our poetry unit! Students have been assigned a Poetry Book. It has a few poems that they are required to write, and some that are optional. The final draft is due Friday, January 22nd. We will also be hosting a Poetry Jam during our live lessons on January 27th. Students will have the opportunity to read a poem that they wrote out-loud to the class. I'll explain more details in a lesson next week.

Cultural Studies - Mr. Marcus
In Cultural Studies we will be using the knowledge that we gained in this last week to move towards the American Revolution. We will be discussing the importance of representation and human rights during the next two weeks in our lessons. This will lead us into the creation of the United States of America.
For the students in my advisory, please email me a time in which we could have a live meeting to either work on school work or just get to know each other a little bit better. I am happy to work with you on times so that we can fit everything into our busy schedules.
