NYLA/SSL Leadership Institute: Aug 3-4
SLS will support conference attendance for W-FL BOCES librarians at this summer's NYLA/SSL Leadership Institute at Cornell University, August 3-4. If you would like to attend, please email Kate or Sharon before June 15; after SLS receives your conference attendance request, we will send the registration link.
Conference attendees will be asked to share information about the conference in a 10-15 minute presentation at a Council/CC meeting or via digital Smore.

The QFT is an instructional strategy that is adaptable K-12; aligned to the inquiry process and fosters student engagement. “The rigorous process of learning to develop and ask questions offers students the invaluable opportunity to become independent thinkers and self-directed learners.” Dan Rothstein, Make Just One Change.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the Question Formulation Technique to inspire student inquiry. They will also learn about the extensive resources available through the Memorial Art Gallary; both online and on site. The time to create a unit of inquiry will also be provided.

NovelNY Update: Aug 9, 2017
This year there are new additions to NOVELNY, including Encyclopedia Britannica e-resources and several new Gale databases.Whether you’re new to NOVELNY or would like a “refresher” come and join Barbara Ciambor, RRLC Outreach Librarian, for a session that will include hands-on practice using all of the NOVELNY databases. Please bring your own laptop/device. RRLC will have a few laptops available for those who need them.
