What's going on this week!

It was a great week last week! Our students enjoyed our RMS pep rally and so did our faculty. Thanks to Mrs. Kerby for her work in making this pep rally a huge success. I saw several faculty members at our RMS football game on Tuesday night. I know our players and parents really appreciate your support.

During the month of September, we have been focusing on the importance of attendance. Thank you for the work that you have been doing to promote this initiative and also providing our character lessons each day to help students understand the importance of good school attendance and responsibility. It is important for our students to know that they are missed if they are not at school. As indicated in the picture above, students are more likely to go to school if they know someone cares whether they show up. As educators, do we take the opportunity when the student returns after an absence to tell them they are missed? Sometimes a simple, "I missed you at school yesterday" is the motivation a student needs to come to school. I challenge you this week to make a phone call to a parent of a student who is absent, just to simply check on them. Let that parent know that you care about their student and their attendance at school. I would love to hear about those conversations and share them with other faculty members!

As you see from the schedule below, we have a lot going on this week at RMS. Please make plans to attend our faculty meeting on Wednesday. We also have two home volleyball games and a football game at Winfield this week that would be great opportunities to come out and support our students.

Thank you for all you do and may your students be as excited about what they are doing in the classroom as they are in this picture of the pep rally!
