When the Moon's shadow appears on Earth's surface, a solar eclipse occurs. A Total Solar Eclipse is where the Moon appears to cover the whole sun. The stages of a Partial Solar Eclipse is the same as a total solar eclipse, except the moon never fully cover the sun.
A Lunar Eclipse happens when the moon moves into the Earths shadow. A Total Lunar Eclipse occurs when the entire moon passes through Earth's shadow. A partial Lunar Eclipse happens when only a part of the moon passes through Earth's shadow.
