Principal's Corner
Hello Meadow Park Families,
Thanks to the many of you who attended our third annual Hoops for Heart basketball game. I wish I had been able to stay for the full event but needed to be at the Middle School Boundary meeting at Five Oaks beginning at 6:30.
Our conferences are coming up shortly! I know that many Summa and Dual Language families were unable to secure a spot and we are looking at changes to the format for the 20-21 school year. Most likely, we will be dividing the list of students in half and allowing half to attend in the fall and half to attend in the spring in each of these programs. The remaining portion of conferences will be for teachers to contact families (or vice versa) and arrange a time to come in. I wanted to get that out to families ahead of time so you are prepared for a change in the next school year. We are looking to create a more consistent opportunity for all Summa and DL students to arrange a conference knowing we will not have more conference time slots available to us.
Please note that over the next couple weeks we have several days with no students at school (including Monday, 2/17 and Tuesday, 2/18). Those are listed below.
Make it a great week!
Jared Freeman
Principal

8th Graders Forecast for High School
Beaverton, Sunset and Westview High Schools visited Meadow Park today to kick off the forecasting process for your child’s 9th grade year of high school! Students have been given forecasting forms to prepare for online forecasting that will take place at Meadow Park on Thursday, March 5th.
If your 8th grade child is attending Sunset, please review the Sunset Academic Program Planning Guide as you and your child fill out his or her forecasting sheet. This sheet does require your signature. We encourage all parents to attend Sunset’s Curriculum Night on Thursday, February 20th at 6:00pm.
If your 8th grade child is attending Beaverton, please review the Beaverton High School Academic Planning Guide as you and your child fill out their forecasting sheet. We encourage all parents to read BHS’s Incoming Freshman Bulletin - Edition 1 & Edition 2 as well as attend Beaverton’s FUTURE YOU Family Night on Thursday, February 20th starting at 6:00pm.
If your 8th grade child is attending Westview, please review the Westview Academic Planning Guide as you and your child fill out his or her forecasting sheet. This sheet does require your signature. We encourage all parents to attend Westview Curriculum Night Information - English & Spanish on Thursday, February 20th at 6:15pm.
All forecasting forms are due back to your child’s Advisory teacher, at the latest, on Friday, February 21st (NEW DATE). If they can get them in sooner - that is better. If your child will not be attending either high school, please still return his or her forecasting sheet with a written note explaining your situation. Plans do change, and we want schools to have forecasting information on file.
Help our PTO provide food for staff during conferences!
The Meadow Park PTO will be providing meals for our staff during teacher conferences later this month. Let’s give them a taste of the delicious foods our diverse student body enjoys at home by sharing your family’s favorite dishes with them at the International Recipes Dinner on Wednesday, February 26th. Sign-up here to bring a main dish, side dish, dessert, or snacks. Feel free to cook, provide store-bought items, or donate to the PTO for staff dinner. Questions? Contact Kimberly Hawk. Thanks in advance for supporting our Meadow Park staff!

8th Grade Peer Coaches
Our 8th Grade Peer Coaches went into 6th grade advisory classes to teach their first lesson, in a series of five, all focused around Social Emotional Learning. This first lesson was titled, “The Things We Have In Common.” The goal of the lesson was to foster an inclusive classroom environment in which students recognize similarities and appreciate differences. Sometimes we don’t realize we have things in common with each other because we don’t take the time to talk to one another and find out what is similar and different. We make unique connections when we get to know each other in a more meaningful way.
