Volume 26 April 16, 2021
April is Month of the Military Child
There are over 1,500 students in BPS who have at least one parent who is an active military member and 64 schools have at least one military child as a student.
With Patrick Space Force Base in Brevard County, BPS has long history of educating children of the military. During Tuesday's School Board meeting, board members voted 5-0 to approve a proclamation designating April 2021 as "Month of the Military Child" in Brevard Public Schools.
The proclamation also recognizes and celebrates April 21, 2021, as "Purple Up for Military Kids" day. We encourage all staff and students to wear purple on April 21st to show support for children of the military. April 21st is the date selected by the Florida Department of Education to honor our military children.
