Important Halloween Reminders
Halloween Parades
Parade times are 9:30 a.m. for morning Kindergarten (indoors) & 2 p.m. for all other students (outdoors). The afternoon parade will begin from Door 1 on Illinois, circle the perimeter of the field, and re-enter the building on Willow. Thank you for being sure the students have plenty of space to parade and keeping all pets at home. Thank you, too, to our many volunteers! We are looking forward to a safe, enjoyable day for the children!
Costume Reminders
We kindly ask that children and adult visitors and volunteers avoid scary or gory costumes. Likewise, accessories that are weapons will not be permitted. Please use discretion in sending other accessories, as we wouldn't want anything to be left behind! Masks that obstruct vision must be lifted for the parade. Adult visitors should keep their faces uncovered so they are easily identifiable. Further, although there have been no substantiated reports of viable threats to any schools, included those of District 200, and while the "Scary Clown fear" appears to be simply a social media phenomenon, we believe that it is prudent to ask parents not to send children to school in any clown costumes for Halloween this year.

Lowell 5k…..We need your help!
This year's Lowell 5k is in jeopardy of NOT happening. This would be very sad as it will be the 20th year of this wonderful event at our school. For those of you who do not know the story behind the 5k: The Lowell 5k was started back in 1997 when Dr. Rosemary Murphy, the principal at the time, was diagnosed with cancer. Lowell School pulled together and planned the 5k as a way to raise money for cancer research and support their principal. Sadly, Dr Murphy lost her battle with cancer, but the event has remained a staple on the school calendar in her memory, for the last 19 years! We have been able to donate over $50,000 to cancer research during this time.
We have all been touched in some way by cancer. This event at Lowell is a very special one. It allows the students to participate in a 5k (many for the very first time!), raise money for charity, honor those in our lives who have been affected by cancer, and come together as a school community for good old fashioned, healthy fun.
We are in desperate need of 2-4 people to step up and volunteer to coordinate this event in the spring. Kelly Nielsen and Courtney Henderson are willing to walk the new team through every step of the planning process, and show them the "ropes”. No running or race experience is needed.
Please contact Kelly Nielsen at kdnoe2002@yahoo.com if you are interested.

ILLNESSES
Please call the attendance line, 630-682-2086, if your child will not be attending school for the day. Remember to include the reason for the absence. Communicable illnesses such as pink eye, strep throat, influenza, chickenpox, head lice and fifth disease are monitored for any significant increase in our school community.
If your child has a fever of 100͐ or above or experiences vomiting or diarrhea they should remain home until they are symptom-free without medication for 24 hours. Complete information can be found in the student handbook.
INJURY/RECESS
If your child has an injury which keeps them out of PE class, please make sure you send the doctor’s note to school. Be aware that if your child is not able to participate in PE class, they are also unable to participate in recess.Important Dates
