Nurse Notes
Dear Lone Star Families,
We are continuing our new "normal" here this week with so far NO positive Covid cases for LSE students or staff!
Thank you, parents, for screening your kids so thoroughly each morning for fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, headache, chills, sore throat, runny nose /nasal congestion, body aches , nausea, vomiting or diarrhea. If your child has more than one symptom , that is new or unusual for your child, please keep him or her at home and contact your healthcare provider.
We have had several LSE longhorns with these symptoms. They were assessed for Covid, strep and flu and all testing coming back negative! We are doing Peanuts Gang happy dances! But we must not get overconfident. We will diligently continue with hand hygiene, physical distancing, and face coverings for anyone 4th grade and older.
Please check out MISD Covid tracker if you have not done so. Also, more info on my web page. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

936-276-45237 Habits at Home: Reactive vs Proactive
The words we use are very powerful. When we use proactive language, it makes us feel more able and empowers us to act.
Reactive Language VS Proactive Language
“I can’t.” VS “ I can.”
“I have to.” VS “I choose to.”
“They won’t let me.” VS “I will get this done.”
Role Play: Demonstrate for your kids how to deal with reacting to certain situations proactively vs. reactively.
